“From Page to Stage®” Programme 2022:
The Sneaker Show
“From Page to Stage®” is a comprehensive Learning & Participation theatre education platform in English. Presented since 2009, this is probably the longest-running theatre-in-education production in the city for a large capacity audience. Tailor made for local secondary school students, the programme is a unique educational adventure. Through high quality drama performances and in-school pre- and post-performance workshops, we aim to nurture students’ interest in classic literature and an appreciation of the arts.
The Sneaker Show is the 14th production of the “From Page to Stage®” Programme. Due to school suspension and closure of performing venues, we were not able perform live in the theatre. However, a green-screen filmed production of The Sneaker Show was filmed in a studio after the 5th wave of the pandemic, so that students and teachers could enjoy the performance in school or at home.

Having an authentic virtual background is marvelous and the vivid performance with interesting linguistic and facial expressions really intrigued me.

The production taught us new vocabulary and even some English slang (like OG); the plot was fun too.

As Artistic Director of AFTEC, I also felt that having survived a few years of social unrest and the pandemic, we all need to regenerate our positive energy that can be stimulated with fun and laughter.
